VOLUNTEERINGThe Marguerite Gahagan Nature Preserve has many volunteering opportunities. We provide environmental education to the area youth and adults. If you have knowledge that you want to share, please do! Local and out-of-area guest speakers engage our community with interesting presentations about nature, the outdoors, travel and a variety of topics of member’s interest. E-mail or call us if you think you can contribute with a future program. Examples of topics can be found at the Programs link. We open the cabin during the summer weekends. Volunteers are needed to staff the facilities. Learn from our knowledgeable members or teach us and the public what you know. The grounds and cabin need periodic cleaning and maintenance. Help keep your preserve beautiful and functional. Skills run from basic household cleaning to carpentry to forestry to gardening. If you want to learn a skill, we have knowledgeable volunteers that can use help at skilled work as well. And then there are the tasks that every organization must do. We write newsletter, keep up this website, organize our speaker programs, look for volunteers, write grant applications and seek funding. Try out us out. At the end of the day you can kick back on Marguerite’s porch, listen to the birds and reap the rewards she left. |
